Membership Eligibility Architects, engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers, material suppliers, their employees, and other members of the construction industry, including building owners, public officials, attorneys, insurance counselors educators, and students. To encourage personal input into CSI programs, only individuals may become members of CSI. Businesses, firms, and agencies, as such, are not eligible for membership. Membership Classifications
Professional	Those who write and enforce specifications.
Industry	Those who execute specification.
Associate	Those who neither write, enforce, nor execute specifications.
Intermediate	Those who lack the technical qualifications or experience to qualify for Professional, Industry, or Associate membership.
Student Special rate of $20 Chapter + $27 National = $47/year	Those who are full-time students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in a construction industry curriculum.
Retired	Those who are no longer engaged in income-producing activities, have reached 65 years of age, and have been a member in good standing for at least the five past consecutive years.
Emeritus	Those who have reached at least 70 years of age, and have been a member in good standing for at least the past 15 consecutive years.
Honorary	Those who have performed distinguished services to the construction industry, and have been so named by the Institute Board of Directors.
