As I began my monthly message in December, I reflected on the past decade and the legacy that many past and current leaders have provided not only the members of the Southeast Region but the Institute and construction industry. I will admit that this became an emotional moment for me. While on the Institute staff, I worked closely with two of the prominent Southeast Region leaders, Former Institute Presidents William F. (Bill) Riesberg, FCSI, CCS (Charleston Chapter) and Richard B. Solomon, FCSI, CCS (Miami Chapter) who passed away last year. I witnessed first hand the support of their spouses and the impact of their dedication. In particular, wife of Former Southeast Region Institute Director and Institute Vice President Thomas D. Montero, FCSI, CDT, Lorraine Montero, passed away in November. Through Lorraine’s untiring efforts and support of CSI’s goals and objectives, she had a major impact on the success of two CSI conventions held in 1985 and 1997 in Orlando. I am now realizing the value of the leadership of these three individuals.
Since becoming a member in 2006 and while on the Institute staff, I have personally benefited from the leadership of the following Southeast Region members who are candidates for Institute offices:
Paul R. Bertram, Jr., FCSI, CDT, President-Elect
Casey Robb, FCSI, CCPR, Vice President (Industry)
José A. Guaty, CSI, CDT, Treasurer
As we move into a new decade, let the legacy of our Southeast Region leaders live through your support in CSI’s upcoming election.
I extend my best wishes to all for a successful New Year.
