Secretary/Treasurer's Message - July 2010
Dear Friends and Colleagues:
Wow! FY2010 has been a rollercoaster ride! With the economy, earthquakes, volcanoes, typhoons, mudslides, oil slicks and numerous uncertainties within the design and construction industry, it is always settling to realize that the network of professionals, peers and good friends that make up our CSI family are there, quick with knowledge and advice when needed.
Our region finances have experienced some of the strains caused by a weak economy but as we strive to provide quality communications and leadership training for our members in the region we understand that to follow our mission we have to tighten our belt and watch expenses. Our monthly RAP from national has been less than expected and our new budget is based on an average of what the last year’s payments have been. As you know the RAP is a percentage of the dues renewals received from members like you and I. This payment from national has eliminated the region dues that were historically charged to each chapter. It also helps the region by adding the percentage of unaffiliated members.
As we continue through this next fiscal year please encourage your friends and colleagues to join CSI or renew their dues. I know people who have dropped their memberships only to come back a year or so later and describe how they missed the camaraderie, communications and the technical expertise offered by the many knowledgeable friends at chapter meetings and events.
I hope you have a re-energized and prosperous year.
