Dear Members:

 

I see CSI at a crossroads in this parallax of time between the old and the new, between the way it was and the way it will be! These opposing and potentially polarizing points of view can be counter productive if allowed to divide us rather than unit us to find a workable compromise that will allow us to move forward with a common purpose.

 

As leaders, we need to stay focused on ways to assure positive growth for the organization by creating ways to make us an indispensable asset to all our members and the construction industry as a whole. We have the unique opportunity with the new governance implementation to make a difference and impact the future direction of CSI. But we need leaders that are willing to stay engaged and in tune with the changes in our industry, our organization, our members, and have a clear view of what we need to do to ensure our future success while not losing focus of our traditions.

 

Today’s CSI requires leaders that are willing to make the hard business decisions and not just the popular ones to appease the masses. We do not need position oriented individuals that just want to pad their resumes with a board appointment! CSI needs leaders that are willing to stay engaged at all times to ensure our future success.

 

I share that willingness to stay engaged and keep us focused on the end zone and not the side lined issues that divide us and makes us lose site of the bigger picture. CSI is not an individual sport but one that requires the collective body of many to ensure success.

 

I will share a quote from Mark Twain that was recently sent to me by one of our chapter Presidents during our Region Governance reorganization; "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do."
